Dr. Basavaraju R Shreshta, Executive Director, Grassroots Research And Advocacy Movement (GRAAM) was invited as a panelist for the discussion on “Rural Realities Karnataka Practitioners’ Experiences in Tackling the Second Wave in Indian Villages,'' organised by Centre for Habitat, Urban and Regional Studies (CHURS) and Impact and Policy Research Institute (IMPRI), New Delhi on May 21, 2021. In his talk he pointed to the lack of coordination and cohesive action at district level to gather community resources, external grants, civil society organisation support and voluntary support. Dr Shreshta briefed GRAAM’s community-led model for COVID-free GPs, and about it’s intervention through the project COVI REACH – (COVID VillageReach). ``COVI REACH was envisioned as an initiative to make GPs COVID resilient by building social and human capital and thereby complement the efforts of the government in combating the epidemic. The project followed the philosophy of standing in solidarity with the government and other stakeholders’’ he explained.
