What is the mission

The mission of the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) program is to transform 150,000 existing Sub Centres and Primary Health Centres in urban & rural areas into Health and Wellness Centres by December 2022 to provide comprehensive primary healthcare services, including maternal and child health services, non-communicable diseases, and free essential drugs, diagnostic services, teleconsultation, and health promotion including wellness activities like Yoga.

Why is the mission

The mission aims to shift from selective to comprehensive primary healthcare, addressing a wide range of health issues to provide Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC), which ensures the highest possible level of health and well-being at all ages, through a set of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative services.

Graam has conducted a comprehensive Assessment of the Implementation of Ayushman Bharat Arogya Mandir (previously known as Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centres) across India. This initiative, under the larger Ayushman Bharat scheme, aims to transform primary healthcare delivery by upgrading existing facilities and expanding coverage to rural and underserved communities. Our findings highlight the progress made, challenges faced, and the impact on healthcare accessibility and quality. For detailed insights into our assessment and recommendations for further improvements, please visit our project link here. https://graam.org.in/home/projectdetails/103
