Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement (GRAAM), a public policy research Think & Do tank emerged victorious in the Champion of Cause category at the esteemed MSME Honours 2023, hosted by Tally Solutions in Bengaluru on Friday, 23rd June 2023. The recognition comes in honor of GRAAM's outstanding social business, We Mill, a project supported by Wurth Electronik aimed at creating rural wealth.

During the Tally MSME Honours 2023 Event, Dr. Basavaraju R Shreshta, the Executive Director of GRAAM, was honoured with the award by Tally Solutions, a pioneer in the business software products arena. Dr Ananya Samajdar, Deputy Director- GRAAM accompanied him in receiving the award.

Tally Solutions has been an industry leader in enterprise resource planning software for medium and small businesses for over 30 years. It provides this annual event as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate MSME Heroes who exemplify innovation and contribute significantly to the sector. The recent event witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 5000 nominations among which, top 100 nominees were shortlisted for the final round. GRAAM’s We Mill achieved a resounding victory in the same.

We Mill is a rural social business that has contributed significantly towards sustainable livelihood of 14 first-generation women entrepreneurs from Bilikere village of Mysuru district. GRAAM conceptualized ‘We Mill’ in 2019 with corporate partner Wurth Elektronik. CFTRI provided the technology and capacity development support with an aim to develop a 'rural wealth creation model'. The team has been working on development of Ragi based products, capacity building, marketing and developing overall entrepreneurial mindset of the women.

“While one is impacting the health and well-being of their loved ones, they are also contributing to the vision of building a self-sufficient and self-reliant India through this project, thus contributing their bit towards making India a 5 trillion-dollar economy”, says Dr. Basavaraju R Shreshta, the Executive Director of GRAAM who also conceptualized the project.
