G20: C20 Regional Roundtables

4 regional roundtables were conducted as a part of C20 working group:

1. The Regional Round table by G20-C20's Delivering Democracy Working group was held at Jaipur, Rajasthan, on 07th June 2023. Leading civil society representatives across Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh attended the Northern Regional round table. About 35 CSO representatives and notable public service representatives from Jaipur MP Mr. Ramcharan Bohra, Former Deputy Mayor of Jaipur Mr. Manish Pareek and the Mayor of Bharatpur Mr. Abhijeet Kumar were present.

The round table was organised by CUTS International in partnership with National Coordinator for the Delivering Democracy WG. The findings from the Round table will be fed into the overall Policy Recommendations for the C20WG.

2. The Regional Round table by G20-C20's Delivering Democracy Working group was held at Hyderabad, Telangana on 12th June 2023. The round table was organised by Bala Vikasa in partnership with GRAAM National Coordinator for the Delivering Democracy WG. The event brought together approximately 40 CSO leaders from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. They engaged in insightful discussions, shared perspectives, and explored solutions on key themes of gender equality in governance and enhancing governance through transparency, accountability and participation.

Dr. W G Reddy, Former Director General NIRD, delivered an enlightening keynote address on the evolution of democracy and its various dimensions, providing lucid examples.

The round tables were chaired by two esteemed professionals: Dr. Gyanamudra, Head of the School of Gender Studies at TISS Hyderabad, and Mr. Suvi Srinivasa Gour, a Senior Social Scientist.

3. Shillong- The third round table of #G20 #C20 Delivering Democracy Working Group Coordinated by GRAAM was held on 19th June 2023 at Rajbhavan, Shillong, Meghalaya. Our Regional Coordinator Amazing Namaste Foundation organised the same. His Excellency Governor of Meghalaya for hosted the discussion on Participatory Democracy and, People's Participation in Policy and Inclusive Governance.

4. Mumbai: Executive Director-GRAAM highlighted the importance of Delivering Democracy working group & making G20 a people’s event.

"People's Participation in the local self governance needs to be facilitated by the Government. Advocacy is required to push institutional framework for enabling people participation"- Dr Sneha marked at Mumbai Regional Round Table, highlighting the importance of advocacy and engagement.
