India Human Development Survey (IHDS) 2022-23

The National Council of Applied Economic Research in collaboration with the University of Maryland is conducting the third round of the India Human Development Survey (IHDS). This work has received strong support from the NITI Aayog. The unique aspect of this study is that this will be one of the only large-scale studies in India to track changes in different aspects of human development in Indian states by studying the same households over a period of nearly 20 years between 2004-5 and 2022-23. India has experienced substantial socio-economic changes in the past decade. This is a critical moment to assess these changes because of the policies required to address the aftereffects of the pandemic.

GRAAM is associating with NCAER to conduct the IHDS in Karnataka State.  The Survey will be starting on December 15, 2022 and would end by March 15, 2023.  The estimated number of households would be around 5000.  A team of 80 members will be covering 27 Districts of Karnataka in three and half month period. The goal of this project is to see how these changes translate into changes in the well-being of individuals and families.
