GRAAM distributed thermal scanner device to government schools
Grassroots Research And Advocacy Movement (GRAAM) distributed thermal scanner devices to Government higher primary schools of Mysuru Taluk in a programme organised in association with Department of Public instructions .
In his inaugural speech Ramachandra Raje Urs, Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) said that reopening schools at the current situation was really a challenge for the government and education institutions. It is our duty to create a fear free environment in the schools at this juncture of pandemic. School staff, various committees of the schools and local governments have to follow COVID protocols to control the pandemic.
He emphasised on the need for funds to create safe and reliable schools. Mr Raje Urs congratulated GRAAM for joining hands in this direction by distributing thermal scanning devices to the schools.
After distributing the devices to the schools, Dr Basavaraju R Shreshta, Executive Director, GRAAM said, “COVID has disrupted the present education system and we may encounter such pandemic in future too. Thus, it is necessary to take precautions in the schools and breaking the chain of infection should be considered on priority.” “We have taken this initiative to facilitate safety and secure schools” he added.
Dr Basavaraju highlighted the various COVID preventive measures should be taken in the schools on the occasion.
In her presidential speech Smt. Malleshwari, Block Education Officer, Mysuru Taluk directed the teachers to map the resources to create pandemic fear free environment in the schools. She said that it is our duty to activate related line departments and different stakeholders to work with the convergence for the safety of students. “Make thermal screening mandatory for each and every student,’ she suggested.
On this occasion, GRAAM also launched and distributed a handbook to all the government schools regarding the COVID-preventing measures to be considered and followed by the school management.
Sri. S P Sri Malik, Lokayuktha, Sri. Mahadevu, B E O, and Smt. Usha R, Head Sugamya Shiksha, GRAAM were also present.
