The Gender Training module, conducted in April, as part of the USAID-NISHTA support project in Jharkhand, aimed to enhance the capacity of Jan Arogya Samiti (JAS) or People's Health Committees in addressing diversity, gender, and social inclusion.
Objectives:
-sensitize JAS members on the importance of diversity, gender, and social inclusion in healthcare services and community development.
Enhance the understanding of JAS members regarding the specific healthcare needs of diverse communities
-Equip JAS members with knowledge and skills to promote and implement inclusive healthcare practices at the grassroots level.
The Gender Training was conducted at each HWC level for JAS committees, reaching 35 JAS committees of interventions HWCs.
Some of the key action points discussed were: engage local communities, conduct outreach programs, create safe & inclusive physical spaces.
There was use of various charts & materials to enhance understanding of gender-related concepts.
Jan Arogya Divas Celebration: Jan Arogya Divas, an initiative implemented under the USAID-NISHTHA program by Jhpiego in partnership with GRAAM, aims to enhance community awareness and engagement regarding the services offered at Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs).
The program is designed to empower communities through the establishment of Jan Arogya Samiti (JAS) or People's Health Committees, which serve as platforms for collective action and social accountability in the field of public health. By focusing on the social and environmental determinants of health, the JAS and Jan Arogya Divas contribute to the comprehensive primary healthcare approach, which includes health promotion and information provision at the community level.
Key Activities: Health camps, health awareness sessions, exhibition stalls, awareness about government health schemes.
