Include Donations through Social Stock Exchange under CSR: SEBI to Government

Under Company Act’s SEBl’s request to Government to amend CSR provisions to permit donations through Social Stock Exchanges is justified as the enterprises listed on SSE are expected to submit first of its kind report on social impact by December 2024. “The time is not far when donors will ask whether a non-profit organization is registered with a social stock exchange before moving funds”, says DC R Balasubramaniam, GRAAM’s founder and chairperson of SEBli’s special advisory committee on SSEs, at a NSE seminar on SSEs in New Delhi.

The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech, announced a comprehensive internship scheme – where 500 companies will provide internship opportunities that will benefit one crore youth over a period of five years. The interns will gain exposure for 12 months to real-life business environments, an internship allowance of Rs 5,000 per month along with a onetime assistance of Rs 6,000. Companies will be expected to bear the training cost and 10 percent of the internship cost from their CSR funds.
