Evaluation of Learning Outcomes of 10th standard students during 2023 in Karnataka

ln karnataka State,in the current year 2022-23 total number of Primary Schools are 23,452, Higher Primary Schools 30,416,and Secondary Schools 17,752are functioning. Total Number of children pursuing education in 7t,62O schools (all the types of management schools) is 1.05 crores. Among 1.05 Crores of children, students are studying in different types of schools are as follows. Govt Schools- 45.44|akh, Pvt Aided Schools -12.6L Lakh, Pvt Unaided schools- 44.821akh, Others (Central, Local bodies, Tribal schools) -3.50 lakh are studying. ln Karnataka an average of 8lakh students will appear for SSLC Exam every year. An analysis of education sector in Karnataka indicates two basic challenges-high dropout rate and poor Learning outcomes of students. The dropout rate at the secondary level is high compared to upper primary and primary dropout rate. A study of the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2017 and 2.O2Lreflects that there is also a decline in tearning outcomes across allthe classes in schools. As per UDISE data, the dropout rate in secondary education in Karnatakais14.65%. To reduce the dropout rate, incentive schemes to provide uniforms, shoesl& socks, textbooks, mid-day meals and recruiting teachers for Math and Science (Subject Specialization Teachers)
