July 06, Mysuru: Millet Mane, an extended venture to promote We Mill was inaugurated in the august gathering of delegates from Wuerth Elektrnik Pvt Ltd and GRAAM on Wednesday at the Bilikere village of Mysuru district. 

We Mill is a social business initiative of GRAAM and Wuerth Electronics intending to create first-generation rural entrepreneurs. The newly launched store houses a variety of Ragi products naturally sourced from local farmers and manufactured at the Asare Sanjeevini Unit in Bilikere. 

Mr Jorg Murawski, Executive Vice President of the Wurth Group, inaugurated the store and appreciated the joint efforts. 

Mr Murawski accompanied by Yasmin, Head Communications, Wuerth Electronics, Mr Harsha Adya of Managing Director, Wuerth India were given a tour of the We Mill unit. The 14 women chosen by the venture showed the delegates from Germany how ragi are sourced, processed and the products are made. Wuerth Electronics has set up machines in the unit which can clean, assort and roast ragi and grind them into fine powder. Making of We Mill’s Ragi Mudde Mix, Ragi malt n shake, and baby’s food Shishuposhan were demonstrated to the delegates. 

We Mill’s start product Ragi Malt n Shake was freshly made and served to the dignitaries and the taste left them wanting more. Mr Murawski and Ms Yasmin were surprised to learn about the nutritional values of Ragi and how ragi products of We Mill are gluten-free. 

 Appreciating the efforts of Millet Mane, Mr Murawski said that he would be constant support of the venture and he would love to see We Mill growing in leaps and bounds. Ms Yasim could not agree more with Mr Murawski, she went on to say how she wished to carry more packs of ragi malt back to Germany. 

The 14 trained women of We Mill were on their toes meeting and greeting the delegates. They said the venture had indeed made them financially independent and confident in life. 

Dr R Basavaraju, Executive Director of GRAAM spoke of his dreams of taking We Mill like social business ventures to the corners of rural India. 

The inauguration of Millet Mane was a success. The store continues to offer an array of ragi and millet-based products to customers. 

We Mill’s successful run in Mysuru  

We Mill women draped in their usual yellow and green sarees can be seen running errands in the city participating in exhibitions and expos.

After a successful launch of Millet Mane, now the 14 rural entrepreneurs are actively taking part in activities in and around Mysuru. On Sunday, We Mill was a part of the 12th edition of Celebration Mysuru 1/2k 10k marathon which saw the presence of Dr Usha Hegde also known as the Iron Women. A sea of people walked into the stall set up in front of the Mysuru Palace and savored We Mill’s Ragi Malt n Shake and ragi cookies.  

On August 5, We Mill saw a massive footfall at the Mysuru Start-Up Pavillion, to discuss the prospects of Start-Ups and entrepreneurship. The Scion of Mysuru Royal Family, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who is an ambassador for the Start-Up pavilion paid a visit to the We Mill’s stall and appreciated the efforts of rural entrepreneurs. On both occasions, the rural women returned home with happy faces.
