Skill Gap Study in selected districts of Karnataka

Skills gaps which is considered as one of the top five pressing concerns among both developed and developing countries directly impacts on improved productivity and employment in both formal and informal sector. It constraints the growth, innovation, real time disbursement of products and services, quality standards and other requirements of the country.

Skill gap in India has several shortcomings such as not meeting sector skill demand, lack of upgradation of skills and lack of competency in trainers. There is a need to enrich the soft skills inorder to enhance the employability. There is a huge gap between skill acquired and required in Karnataka when it aspiring to be a choice of destination for the skilled human capital. Unfortunately Karnataka has less proportion of skilled work force.

The evaluation study would assess skill gap and employability on the various parameters considering the demand and supply side components.
