Understanding the Socio-Economic Landscape of 14 Villages in Jigani, Anekal Taluk is a two-phase study undertaken to understand community needs and strengthen the strategic planning and measurability of CSR interventions implemented by Toyota Industries Engine India (TIEI) across 14 villages in Anekal Taluk, Karnataka.

Objective

The study aims to generate comprehensive village-level insights on socio-economic conditions, service access, infrastructure, vulnerabilities, community aspirations, and priority development needs. It further seeks to translate these findings into structured CSR programme frameworks, measurable indicators, and evidence-based planning.

Methodology

The study follows a two-phased sequential mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative methods. Phase I involves secondary research and desk review, community-level field engagement, village profiling, thematic assessments, FGDs, IDIs, KIIs, institutional mapping, and review of existing CSR initiatives. Phase II focuses on strategic stakeholder consultations, development of a Theory of Change (ToC) and Logical Framework (LFA), identification of output and outcome indicators, baseline study design and implementation, and establishment of benchmark values.

Key Focus Areas

The assessment covers education, health and nutrition, livelihoods and skills, environment, basic infrastructure, community assets, women and youth, vulnerable groups, and community institutions and governance.

Study Area

14 villages in Anekal Taluk, Karnataka, within TIEI’s CSR geography.
