A Governance Talk Series : Urban Health Governance in the 21st Century

JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru | December 2025

GRAAM, in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Department of MBA – Health Management Research, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, successfully hosted an insightful Governance Talk Series on the theme:

“Urban Health Governance Issues and Challenges in the 21st Century: From Administration to Public Health Leadership.”

Distinguished Speakers

The session brought together distinguished speakers who shared rich perspectives on strengthening India’s urban health ecosystem:

Dr. Yashaswini Kumar

Manager, Medical Research – Noora Health

Dr. Yashaswini shared valuable insights on urban health practices, waste management systems, and the rising burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Her talk highlighted the importance of community engagement and behaviour change for healthier cities.

Dr. Nagaraj D G

District Surveillance Officer, Mysuru

Dr. Nagaraj provided an in-depth understanding of how the Department of Health functions across urban and rural settings. He emphasized the role of community-led platforms like Jan Arogya Samitis and their contribution to strengthening grassroots health governance.

Dr. Basavaraju R Shreshta

Executive Director – GRAAM

Dr. Basavaraju focused on the need for leadership development, administrative reforms, and transforming health education to build a future-ready workforce capable of addressing emerging public health challenges.

Dr. C P Madhu

Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru (Presiding Remarks)

Dr. C P Madhu congratulated the Department of MBA–HMR for organizing the session and extended full support on behalf of JSS AHER. He encouraged students to make the best use of platforms like Youth for Governance (Y4G) to build leadership skills and contribute to nation-building.
