Sessions under the Youth For Governance programs kicks off in association with PRIA

Mysuru: The Youth For Governance Fellowship a blended learning program for select 25 young minds commenced in full swing on May 27. As the online sessions rolled out, students gained an understanding of the self.

Spanning over nine months, the Y4G Fellowship program is conducted by Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), in association with GRAAM. The Youth for Governance Fellowship cohort is very multi-disciplinary, comprising soon-to-be engineers, doctors, urban planners, social work postgraduates, and chartered accountants. The fellowship allows them to conduct research with students bringing different skills to the table.

This is only the third city in the country, preceded by Delhi and Chandigarh, where students are being given an opportunity to engage in active governance.

On Friday, May 27 Ms. Anindita Anand, External Facilitator started the fellowship program with a discussion on ‘Under Mental Self.’ The session had a presence of 21 students. The second session was held on June 4 wherein another external facilitator Ms. Raveena Singh stressed the ‘Understanding Physical Self’. Ms. Yashvi Sharma and Ms. Neha S Chaudhry, two facilitators from PRIA enlightened the participants on ‘Diversity of Self in the third session conducted on June 10.

According to facilitators of PRIA, the first module has been designed with the belief that exploring oneself and coming to terms with oneself is important for bringing change at larger levels.

Youth For Governance is a blended learning program that combines theoretical learning sessions and a practical project. The Fellows will work in groups and research any issue important to them. Through that process, they will understand community dynamics, democratic structures, and the tools used for effective governance.  The Fellows will be able to present their findings and recommendations to a select group of government officials and community leaders.
