GRAAM’s Hand book on “Managing the schools during the pandemic”

The Handbook on managing the schools during the pandemic prepared by the GRAAM in Kannada addresses the concerns like precautionary measures a school should adopt to welcome the students? How children should be monitored in the classrooms? What type of medical preparedness is needed to encounter the  pandemic? How to mobilize the resources to meet the medical emergency?

COVID- 19 has disrupted the entire education sector. All educational activities have been halted and a record number of students are not attending the schools because of the closure of school premises mandated by the government due to the pandemic.  However, one or the other day schools have to be reopened and then it will reminisce its glory.

But the worst fear of pandemic among the teachers, parents and students will be lost long. What are those precautionary measures a school should adopt to welcome the students If once government shows a green signal to reopen the schools? How children should be monitored in the classrooms? What type of medical preparedness is needed to encounter the  pandemic? How to mobilize the resources to meet the medical emergency?

The Handbook on managing the schools during the pandemic prepared by the GRAAM in Kannada addresses all these concerns.  Though basically this book has been developed for the GRAAM’s Sugamya Shiksha schools, we intend to reach other schools too.

This book emphasizes on maintaining cleanliness in the classrooms and frequent sanitization. It explains the cleaning process in the schools during a pandemic in detail. It provides suggestions to  manage the public in the school, precautionary measures to be followed by a  student during  their  travel time and about  taking care of  mid-day meals.  It suggests to nominate a health ambassador to look after the   usage of school toilets & waste management especially during the pandemic.  This book gives some tips for seat arrangement in the classroomsin order to maintain social distance between the students. The book advises setting up a health check up center in the entrance. COVID kit, awareness slogans and talks on COVID 19 are the other recommendations.
